Welcome to Embracing Me

Discover the Power of Your Mind, Body, and Spirit

About Me

Hi, I’m Stacie J. Whitaker-Harris—a published author, certified recovery and peer support specialist, mindfulness coach, and artist. My journey has been shaped by over 20 years of writing, storytelling, and community advocacy. From publishing essays and poems as a middle schooler to contributing to university newspapers and appearing in local news, writing has always been my passion.

As a woman of faith with a Master’s in Law (business focus) and a Bachelor’s in Nonprofit Management, I am committed to empowering others through my words, art, and coaching. In 2020, I discovered my love for painting, which began as a form of therapy and blossomed into a creative outlet, with many pieces sold and displayed in local contests. My work reflects a dedication to healing, growth, and honoring the God-given potential in all of us.

What Is *Embracing Me*?

Embracing Me is more than a blog—it's a journey of self-discovery, healing, and honoring the divine within. Here, I share my life experiences—good, bad, and transformative—to inspire and uplift. I spent years hiding my gifts and stories out of fear. But through faith, I’ve chosen to embrace who I am and share my God-given talents with the world.

From essays and poetry to coaching and peer support, my mission is to guide you toward wholeness and inspire you to live fully and freely in harmony with your mind, body, and spirit.

The Finish Line: Reflections on the She Power 10K

Hello Beautiful People!

The first race of my "She Power" journey is officially in the books, and WOW—what an unforgettable experience! This was not only my first 10K EVER but, also the kickoff to my 50 Miles, $50K, 50 Years Campaign. Let me tell you, it was a whirlwind of excitement, purpose, and a sprinkle of What on Earth did I just sign up for? vibes.

You know that restless buzz of energy before a big day—like the night before the first day of school? That was me! I couldn’t sleep and kept thinking I’d oversleep, forget something, or somehow miss the start line altogether. But I was up before the alarms, prayed, meditated, stretched, and stepped into that race ready to conquer the day.

The first lap? INTENSE. Imagine starting after the faster groups and doing math (yes, MATH, during a run) to ensure I’d hit the 8:50 a.m. cutoff. Talk about pressure! But when doubt started creeping in, I reminded myself: “You didn’t come this far to quit now!” Crossing that first lap with seconds to spare was pure adrenaline—and the cheers of a kind stranger (who registered me the day before) made it even sweeter.

The second lap? A straight-up grind. My hips ached, my nose ran, and my feet were BEGGING me to quit. But listen, quitting was not on the menu! I powered through, alternating between walking, trotting, and catching my breath. Crossing that finish line was a triumph—I not only finished, but I beat my training time by FOUR minutes. πŸŽ‰ I placed 245th out of over 1,500 registrants! Did I compete with anyone else? Nope. My only goal was to beat my own limits—and I did!

Oh, and about Instagram? I had every intention of sharing live updates, but let’s just say my focus was on finishing, not filming. I did manage to capture the last lap—next time, I’ll aim for a little more multitasking. πŸ˜‰

Here’s the lesson: Perseverance is beautiful. It’s not about how fast you go; it’s about showing up and refusing to give up. Life throws challenges at us, but we have the power to face them with courage, grace, and determination.

This year, I’m challenging YOU to dream boldly and push past your limits!

What’s one thing you’re committing to that will make your life better? How will you make it happen? And who’s standing beside you, cheering you on?

One 10K down, one more to go—plus 3 5Ks and a marathon! I’m absolutely stoked!!! Let’s keep inspiring and uplifting each other as we move forward on this journey together. Remember: you’re not just walking; you’re stepping into your greatness because YOU ARE greatness in the flesh.

PS: To everyone cheering me on and supporting my 50 Miles, $50K, 50 Years Campaign—THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart! Your belief in me fuels my mission, and I’m endlessly grateful for your encouragement.

Keep dreaming, keep running, and keep rising! πŸƒπŸΎ‍♀️πŸ’ͺπŸΎπŸ’–

Here are a few pictures from the race. Enjoy!
