Knowing what to do in the face of adversity is not the easiest task to manage. Certainly smiling is not always the first option when we are faced with trials. This morning as I reflect on past trials, current issues and future stumbling blocks, I remember the smile of the late Barbara Ann Jones (my mother). No matter how many late nights, early mornings, extended work days or strength she had to muster in order to rear her five children; she did so with a smile that lit a dark room. Her laugh was infectious. Adding Mommy's smile and laughter together was a real treat.
When I take time to think back even further, I realize that Barbara, my Mother, learned a behavior from her Aunt that I now carry with pride. Mom use to say, "Smiles don't cost a thing and laughter heals". So it's not odd for me to consider that no matter what takes place in my life I seek to continue the legacy of providing a smile to brighten someone's day. I may not be able to give you the world but at least I can smile so that the world can be a better place.
I charge you today, to smile often...It will change your life and the lives of those whom you encounter. Enjoy a day filled with laughter...ON PURPOSE!
"A happy heart is good medicine and a cheerful mind works healing,
but a broken spirit dries up bones"
- Proverbs 17:22
